GREAT WHITE's TY LONGLEY: A Former Porn Star?
March 9, 2003GREAT WHITE guitarist Ty Longley, one of 99 people to die from injuries suffered in a Feb. 20 fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, R.I., had worked as an adult film actor prior to joining GREAT WHITE three years ago, according to AVN.com (Adult Video News).
Longley, who is widely believed to have lost his life trying to help other people find their way out of the burning club, had worked in the adult industry in various capacities both behind and in front of the camera. He appeared in a number of videos for Zane Entertainment and Legend Video Inc. under the name "Ty Bo", and had spent time working in the Zane warehouse as well as handling public relations for the company.
"When I worked at Legend, he worked at Zane. He was a really, really nice guy and it's pretty fucked up that he's gone," Jeff Steward, owner of JM Productions, told AVN.com. "Knowing Ty, he was probably trying to help someone get out. That's the sort of guy he was."
Among the adult films that Ty Bo (a.k.a. Ty Longley) appeared in were the following:
Adventures of Pee Man (2000)
Co Ed Cocksuckers 12 (1999)
Co Ed Cocksuckers 13 (1999)
Co Ed Cocksuckers 17 (2000)
Cubby Holes 1: Big Things In Small Places (2000)
Exotic And Erotic (1999)
Girls Next Door 8 (2000)
Pornologocal 3 (1999)
Sex Camp (1999)
Virgin Snow (2000)
Wet Cotton Panties 11 (1999)
Longley, originally from Sharon, Pennsylvania, was sharing an apartment with Mark Zicari (a.k.a. porner Mark Zane),young brother of Matt Zicari (a.k.a. Matt Zane of SOCIETY 1),in Northridge, California.
"He was always practicing and working. The music scene's a struggle, but he had a comfortable thing going," said Zicari, who had lived with Longley for three years. "He [was] just a very friendly, easy-to-like guy. I've never met an enemy of Ty's."
Before landing the gig as one of GREAT WHITE's two guitarists, the curly-haired Longley taught guitar, took pickup gigs and worked for video distributor Chuck Zicari [porner Chuck Zane], the father of Longley's Northridge flatmate.
"He was an extremely hard worker who took the job seriously even though music was obviously his first love," the elder Zicari recalled.
Longley is survived by his father, mother, and sister — and has a child on the way from his girlfriend Heidi, who currently lives in Chicago.
